Chocolate, berries and herbs bring a distinctive direction to this Sumatran coffee. Our Lintong is an Arabica supplied as Grade 1 TP under the 360 programme and described by the supplier as wet-hulled.
Origin & growing landscape
Lintong is a coffee-growing area of North Sumatra, part of an Indonesian coffee history extending back more than three centuries. The supplier’s 360 programme profile places its sourcing in the Tapanuli Highlands and describes work with smallholder farmers through Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari and PT Orang Utan Lestari. Our lot’s certificate of origin confirms PT Orang Utan Lestari as the exporter.
Growing altitude: 1,000–1,600 metres above sea level in the supplier’s programme profile. This is a sourcing range, rather than a measured elevation for one plot in our shipment.
Wet-hulled processing
Known as giling basah, wet hulling removes the protective parchment while the coffee is still at a higher moisture level than in conventional washed processing. The exposed beans then finish drying. This sequence is an important part of Sumatra’s distinctive coffee tradition and is different from simply washing the cherries.
Supplier profile: chocolate, berries and herbs, with citrus acidity and a silky texture.
Brewing suggestions
Explore it with French press, moka pot or espresso for a more substantial brew, or paper filter for a different view of its herbal and fruit character. For French press, start with 15g coffee per 250g water.
Roasted in small batches by Black Eye Coffee Roasters in Malta. Available in 100g, 250g and 1kg, as roasted whole beans or ground for your brewing method.
